You should be concerned that the two political parties that maintain the two-party tyranny have an unwritten agreement that neither major party will ever enter into a coalition with a minor party or new party. If this agreement were written it would be a violation of the Constitution because the federal government is not vested with the authority to regulate political parties or limit their number. Great freedom for the people to organize political parties as they wish is protected by the First Amendment right to "peaceably assemble and petition the government for a redress of grievances." The two-party system is a violation of the Constitutional promise of Article 4, Section 4, that the "United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government,…"
A "republican" form of government is derived from the word-phrase "res publica" or "res publius" which means rule of the people or law of the people in the Latin language of ancient Rome. Rule of the people has never been taken to mean rule of an aristocracy or rule by a rich majority. It has always meant rule by the majority who vote. Sometimes, when the commitment to democracy is truly great, it means rule of the majority who are eligible to vote. In that case, a winning majority is not more than 50% of those who voted on an issue; a winning majority would have to be 50% of all those who are eligible to vote, whether all are voting or not. That would be a great democracy.
One of your grievances should be the conspiracy of the two-party tyranny to render every new or minor political party ineffective because they are designated as "spoiler" parties or "splinter" parties, not to be taken seriously. In this "American" two-party system, there is no genuine political challenge or political competition from any new party because the only way a new party could be effective, in this anti-democratic system, is to win fifty-one percent of the vote the first time that new party is on a ballot. The obstruction of new party development is clear from America's 20th century political history. This is not the way political change occurs in a truly democratic society or country with "res publica." New political parties need to be tried and tested. Some time is required to see the quality of people a new party attracts. The people need to learn to trust them and gauge the nature of their commitment to their written platforms and ideas. But the two-party system makes healthy development of new political choices impossible. The result of the two-party system is minority rule, because 40% of the voters do not vote, and of the 60% that do vote, slightly more than one-half, or thirty-one percent, get to elect our government. That means that for the past 120 years the U.S.A. has been governed by less about one-third of the eligible voters. We clearly have minority rule, and it is the two-party system that violates the guarantee of a republican form of government. This should cause American citizens to feel afraid and ashamed that our national government has broken its promise to its citizens. How can a rational person claim that this is the "greatest democracy" in the world.
There are two reasons that this anti-democratic government operates successfully. One is because the American nobility want it and they maintain a fake democracy through fake issues and fake debates on personal moral issues. The second is because YOU tolerate it. The nobility lies to you and uses you to maintain their minority rule in the United States of America. Those who succeed in the two-party system do not follow the guidance of Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin; they follow the guidance of Phineas T. Barnum. American elections are fake elections because they block serious political competition and genuine political choices. The best hope to save our nation and the world from political crisis and social disaster is for the voters of the United States to demand retirement of the two-party system and replacement with a multi-party system that supports real political competition, party coalitions, and majority rule exercised by 60% to 80% of the eligible voters. That's a great democracy.
