We need to re-start election democracy before we debate other issues.
I / WE do not advise others how to vote or who to vote for, or which party to favor. Just vote. The source of our political, social and economic problems is not enough citizens voting. The problem is an arithmetic problem. Because only 60% to 65% of the adult citizens have voted since 1900, the winners get elected with only 33% of the electorate. No wonder 67% of the people are dissatisfied: 67% of the people are dissatisfied with government because the people WE elected to make OUR laws and enforce them are supported by only one-third of US WHO HAVE THE POWER OF THE VOTE. Our election system results in minority rule after every election. The only way we can ADVANCE TOWARD MAJORITY RULE IS IF MORE PEOPLE VOTE, AND MORE PEOPLE VOTE, AND MORE PEOPLE VOTE. VOTE LIKE AN ARMY.
Instead of 60%, we need 75 %, 80%, 90%, 100%
The basic principle that is the foundation of democracy is that everyone who is affected by a political decision has a right (and a duty) to participate in that decision. And we know there are many decisions that affect all of us. Every voice must be heard. You must cast your vote so that you share in the responsibility for the decisions that are made by those elected to exercise the power of the state in OUR name. The main point to keep in mind is not that you have no right to complain if you do note vote, but rather that we are ALL responsible for both what goes right and what goes wrong because we did vote. Democracy is the most morally responsible form of government because we the people accept our responsibility for the quality of government rather than blaming hidden conspiracies or weaknesses in human nature. All the problems arise from arithmetic: if 60% vote, government is 30%. Lazy people = unsupported government.
